Sustainable Farming Incentive

British Agriculture is going through a period of change not seen in generations. The reduction in the Basic Payment scheme and the introduction of the Sustainable Farming Incentive creates challenges and opportunities for farmers and land owners.

Below we aim to show how we can help customers access some of the SFI options that are becoming available in the summer of 2024.

Variable Rate Fertisliser Application

As well as receiving £27/ha you will also get the benefit of more efficient use of phosphate, potash and/or nitrogen.

We have been applying fertilisers using variable rate technology since the late 1990's, so have a wealth of experience using the equipment and of data management. We can import variable rate files from all third party companies. We can also arrange soil sampling and analysis.

Herbal Leys £382/ha

We can sow herbal lays directly into existing grassland using our Weaving GD Direct Drill.

This drill is very low disturbance and will do very little damage to the grass and will not stimulate weed growth.

No - Till Farming £73/ha

Our Weaving GD Direct Drill is designed for No-Till Farming.

Although the rules for this option have not yet being finalised, it sounds like low disturbance subsoiling may be allowed... watch this space!

Companion Crops £55/ha - Multi Species winter cover crops £129/ha

We are fitting a second seed hopper to the Weaving GD drill to allow us to simultainiously sow a second seed alongside the regular cash crop.

We can also sow a cash crop direct into cover crops without the need to flail or incorporate the residue.
